Playing Dreamcast games online today
Sega's Dreamcast servers are long gone, but dozens of games are online again through community hosts. How it works and what you can play.
A shared hub, many hosts
Dreamcast Live is the community hub for online play on the Sega Dreamcast. On 2 November 2026 its games page listed 58 titles as online. Each game names who hosts its server, such as Shuouma, flyinghead, DreamPipe or Dreamcast-Talk, and each host runs its own status page. You can connect a real Dreamcast, for example with a DreamPi, or use an emulator.
How the original servers ended
Dates are patchy. Wikipedia records that Bomberman Online lost its servers in 2003, that the Phantasy Star Online Dreamcast servers closed on 30 March 2007, and that Daytona USA servers were taken down permanently by mistake. For several other games no closure date is documented, and this directory leaves the date blank rather than guess.
When games came back
Wikipedia notes fans brought ChuChu Rocket! and Alien Front Online back online in 2016, World Series Baseball 2K2 on 1 March 2018, and Daytona USA in 2023.
